Thanks very much Yves for your comments, always appreciated. At first I thought maybe a spring shed. But when I zoomed up on the area around his ribs and belly there is even saw raw skin showing. When I googled mange it said that the tail is usually the first to lose all the hair.

Love the purified style of that photo Debra. The coyote shows sharp details and he realy pops out over the pale sky and field colours. Could it be that he is changing fur colour for the summer one? Very nice photo.

Description
When I first spotted this coyote he was moving out of the tall grasses so I did not notice his condition until I saw him from the side. He appeared to be happy and quite energetic even though the mange is infecting him. I could not help but feel sorry for the coyote.
